Yes. The War was hard work and dangerous for all fighting men. Having done hundreds of starts with this system, I would say it requires some effort but, it is reliable and it works in extreme conditions. You can do it on your own if you need to, I know-I have!
Overall, the wartime 109 was a basic machine that was designed to still work when all you had was fuel and oil and a bit of muscle power!
