(n.d.) trf to Fliegergruppe Finsterwalde (II./KG 153). 15.03.36 Maj., Staka 9./KG 253. 01.08.37 promo to Maj. 13.04.40 Maj., appt IIa/Luftflotte 1 (to 30.04.40). 24.06.40 appt Kdr. III./KG 77. 07.40 Maj., appt Kdr. II./KG 4 (to 15.06.42). 01.04.41 promo to Obstlt. 1942 flew some supply missions to Demjansk and Kholm. 11.02.42 Obstlt., awarded DKG, II./KG 4. 01.04.42 promo to Oberst. 16.06.42 appt Kommodore KG 4 (to 10.01.43). 05.01.43 Oberst, awarded Ritterkreuz on completing 111 combat missions. 01.06.43 in Führer-Reserve/Ob.d.L., appt (acting?) Chef Abt. LP 4 (Flak)/Lw.-Personalamt (to 03.44). 26.03.45 Oberst, Chef für Auszeichnung- u. Disziplinarangelegenheiten/Lw.-Personamt. 03.05.45 captured by the Americans. Credited with 112 missions. †23.03.71 in Delmenhorst.
