Re: Color film brand new FW 190 in may 1945

Hello Marc,

in 1944/45 yellow Rumfbänder perhaps were not special indicators for training units. At that time these markings were often allready painted on aircraft not yet allocated to a certain unit. There are quite a few fotos of Bf109s, even of the K-4 type, without any tactical markings, but showing yellow bands. One rather well known aircraft is Bf109G-6 Werknummer 165545 captured at Augsburg and fotographed in color. It was intended for being used as a testbed at MTT, but had an accident on its ferry-flight to Memmingen.

Gröbenied airfield is only a small field used for private gliders since 1981. AFAIK, it did not exict during wartime. A well known airfield next to Dachau is Schleißheim, being less than 5 Kilometers south of the infamous KZ.

HTH
