First US Navy Parachute Incident in 1930
On January 16, 1930 Lt George Harbord De Baun was flying over San Diego, California (it is believed to be a Boeing F3B of VB-2B, USS Saratoga) when the plane he was flying in could not be recovered from an Inverted Spin and he bailed out.
He was later the commander of TBD Devastator unit VT-6 Sept 1939 on USS Enterprise (CV-6) and Captain of USS COWPENS (CV-25) during WW2 and ended up an Admiral

I know that a US Navy aircraft was lost 16 Jan 1930 San Diego, CA, but that is all and I can't find any contemporary news reports either.
So can anyone please identify the actual aircraft involved and any other info thanks Paul
