Re: He 219 W.Nr. 310316

Regarding the interesting WNr & series batches mentioned above, has it been considered among the He 219 experts that for series productions ususally batch orders from the RLM/Nachschub started with xxxxx1 for (ususally) 10, 20, 50 or so aircraft from a production firm (final assembly) e.g. at Heinkel Vienna (EHW) or Rostock (EHR) acc. to the RLM Lieferplan.

Only the last Werknumber was then logically "open", in case an order batch was less than 10, 20 etc. but it should have started with a '1'.

Is there a plausible reason why these batches should not have started with a xxxxx1 apart from the fact that we have not found an evidence yet? That would enlarge the theoretical total He 219 production number (300+) again.

Of course one reason for some missing numberes is destruction (bombing, strafing etc.) during the production process or if some semi-finished fuselages have been taken out of delivery for e.g. structural testes or conversion tests like the Umbau program.

Hope my experience from other Luftwaffe-Baumuster research contributes to the 8-219-Werknummern considerations…
