Re: ju88a4-17 KG26 Bardufoss

Ok, Alvis48. Previously I know only of some wrecks left behind at Bardufoss - including one "Wellenmuster" painted Ju 88 (or Ju 188), but no "complete" examples, before now. I do not know where this has been debated, so can not comment on that. Because of your statement (regarding debate) I looked up photos from Bardufoss (ENDU) via www.Airliners.net and found (in particular) one photo - nr. 0534743 of Norwegian AF F-16AM by Anders Forseth (link is below) that apparently does match the background on second photo (pic ju88-3.jpg). Runway directions at ENDU are close to 100/280 Degrees (Magnetic) and some mountains to the North are very close looking.

Code on this Ju 88 A-17 - yes, this is a A-17 - as the best little known feature is visible here (on pic ju88-3.jpg) ~ small cutout on landing flap near fuselage - if not, the flap, when deploed - it whould hit the steering fins of the (two) torpedoes (on take off or landing). Other small canges were deletion of Gondola, torpedo steering gear fairing built onto side of right side of cockpit. Also the HF under-fuselage trailing-wire antenna mast is now angled down (not sideways), then some versions of Search-Radar were installed. I then agree this (likely 088/550866) may have been ex- (1H)+QN of II/KG 26. Five sets of landing gears show in background, one of them appears an Ju 188. Are there more photos of this and who took them?

Best regards
ed
