Hefty's escape Flik.42J

This from the Jan.1960 "Flying Review" ( showing my age !), Frigyes Hefty's parachute jump. Probably the first by an Austro-Hungarian. The Albatros in the photo is 153.169 ( the serial has been scraped off but the "9" is still visible); 6 on left side red with black shadow, reversed on right side. The emblem on the right side had a monogammed "G" and crown.

Generally believed shot down in 253.71 by Bartolomeo Costantini ( 91a Sqd) near Mareno, Hefty says a Hanriot but more likely a SPAD unless the 91st had a flight of them. The 71st was also flying and made a claim in Vallarsa area.
Mis-identification was common especially with Nieuports, Hanriots and Camels.

Hefty usually flew no.6s including 253.71, there was another "6" in this Flik., 253.64.
