Re: William Sloan DFC
Broken Wings gives an entry for that day which matches where the Sloan is buried.
Tempest T.T. Mk.5 NX151 of APS Sylt, it struck some tree while low flying and is recorded as having climed away and then dived into the ground. The location is given as 4.5 miles south of Oldenburg.
APS was Armament Practice Station.
His DFC was recorded in the London Gazette on the 10th November 1944, he was with No.208 Sqn, no citation is given.
