Where did VVS Col.Boris Pivenstein vanish ?
Born in 1909 in Odessa in a Jewish family, Pivenstein joined the Red Army and became
one of the famous Stalin Arctic flyers prior WWII who was highly decorated. On April 27,1943 Col.Pivenstein who acted as Sqd CO with Soviet 8th Air Army was shot down on the Southern Front. Then he reappeared again as an Abwher Ost interrogator of captured Soviet pilots and was quartered at Satalg Luft II and VI. He was instrumental in convincing captured Soviet pilots to join Gen.Valsov's Army. At this point the SD and SS didn't bother at all about his Jewish background and let him enjoy lots of privileges . Pivenstein, was responsible for lots of treason acts such as divulging to the SD Soviet pilots escape plots and after German capitulation after NKVD took possesion of his files, it lead to trials and executions of many ex Soviet POW's pilots who were unfairly blamed of treason due to Pivenstein activities & records. Once again in 1946 he appeared under cover acting for the famous Reinhard Gehlen's new German Abwher Service in Bonn or Berlin as a refugee consultant for ex Soviet citizens living in Europe. Strangely that was one of the rare Soviet officers cases not extradated by the US to Russians on aftermath of WWII and one who was never caught despite the intense searches by the Soviets in the years to come. In 1949 he left Berlin bound to the US and then vanished once again ,since then no one ever head a thing about him, presumably worked under cover for CIA during Korea and Vietnam conflicts. That reminds famous Goerings statement related to Gen.Milch...."only I will decide who is Jew ".... Wonder if anyone ever head about his whereabouts from the 50's and on ?
