Ogergefreiter Sturmstaffel JG 3(Johannes Staassen)

Hi Enthusiasts

I am pondering the claimant of two claims with Sturmstaffel 1 of JG 3 on 10th February 1944 at 1115 hrs and 11th February 1944 at 1240 hrs. It's an obergefreiter. The mikrofilms handwriting is terrible, but as a stroke of luck B-17 is written as Fortress which leads me to believe there is a double "S" towards the end of the name, and looks like it begins "S" as well, there would appear to be no "O", "i" , "U"or "ä" in the name. I checked losses and could find no Obergefreiter, however a couple of Unteroffizier sort of fit it.

Firstly Heinz Steffen wounded on 24th April 1944 with Sturmstaffel JG3, but though I could be mistaking SS for FF It's not my first choice.

Secondly Johannes Staassen killed on 16th May 1944 with 12./JG 3, this is who I feel it is, but am not sure.

The rank difference is not a problem as it's a progression, and both names are about the correct length.

Can anybody comment or have there own opinion on who this claimant could be please.

Kind Regards

Johannes
