Re: German Photo Album
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a German photo album. Some photos at least are from FFA 34. https://www.ebay.de/itm/166647859058...Bk9SR5Sb_eLHYw Perhaps less interesting at first glance is an album from a ballom unit it does however have some aircraft photos towards the end presumably given the text on the photod fron bMFS 5. https://www.ebay.de/itm/285764861363...Bk9SR6TMwePHYw Regards, Clint |

Re: German Photo Album
Thanks for this Clint; nice links
> second link, slide 9 is the viaduct of the Toul-Thiaucourt railway in Flirey and destroyed by the French army in 08/1914. Some of these photos taken in the St Mihiel Salient. What is BFMS 5 ? Bertrand |

Re: German Photo Album
Hi Bertrand,
Thanks for the location identities. BMFS 5 (also sometime written bMFS 5) is Bayerische Militär-Fliegerschule 5 based at Gersthofen Gablingen, near Augsburg. So presumably dating from a different stage in the original album owners military career than the France based material. Regards, Clint |

Re: German Photo Album
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a German photo album. It is almost completely without interest with regard to historical aircraft with the exception of a rather nice photo of Hawa CL.IIIa 16147/17 https://www.ebay.de/itm/266872855456...Bk9SR6yE7-KIZA Regards, Clint |

Re: German Photo Album
Quite an odd album if I may say so Clint
I wonder if there are more photos than shown? If not it is extremely overprized. If the text visible is contemporary it is striking the individual who wrote it didn't know the difference between a Pfalz D.III and an Albatros D.III Also the photos just don't connect with each other. Boelcke never flow any of the types shown and there is a mix between fighters (Albatros, Fokker, Pfalz) and recce types (DFW, Hannover, Rumpler) Without checking (since I know you are better than me on WW 1 marking) what unit used the white arrow and come to think of it isn't the C.4 visible on the Rumpler unusual instead of the much more common C.IV?? Re: German Photo Album
Hi Stig,
Sold already. So underpriced I guess For anyone interested I discussed this album with Stig as the board was unavilable for a protracted periof. My reponse was as follows Now to the Album. Yes there are some unusual elements. It seems to me that options are
The unit sounds OK but I am rather leaning towards it has been collected bya non-flying/technical individual. I agree thast this would very much make sense. If anyone has any further thoughts on the above I'd be interested. Also I would welcome any views on the serial of the Albatros D.V, that is the first from the right in the shot, adjacent to D.2005/17 Regards, Clint |

Re: German Photo Album
First of all, my apologies.
I had not time when visiting TOCH to check the album thoroughly (bad handling by me) meaning I never scrolled down the e-bay page. The album was much, much larger (and better) than initially thought. Having now said that, I still consider it to be a bit odd, some photos are well known while others are totally new (to me!) Yesterday TOCH was up and running very awkwardly meaning whenever I tried later it was down. I didn't even knew my initial posting had actually gone through.... Oh well, so it goes.... Re: German Photo Album
Hello,
Just browsing and came across a photo Album captioned as Flieger Abteilung 46b. As I had not previously seen the photos of Albatros C.I 20/15 (FFA 3b), I hope that means that it has not previously been posted here and is of interest despite not being a recent item on ebay.It can be found here https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204238845570 Regards, Clint |

Re: German Photo Album
Hello,
Currently on ebay is a photo album with frankly somewhat variable quality of photos. However what is interesting is tha there is a photo of what appears to be a AEG Z.3, to which the serial B.50 is assigned by the compiler of the photo album. As far as I'm aware the Type of machine serial B.50/13 was not previously known. https://www.ebay.de/itm/276717560011...Bk9SR-imnt3fZA Regards, Clint |
