324th FG, Dec. 22nd, 1944, Looking for Mission Report and Claim Reports

Hi All,
At Dec. 22nd 1944 the German Fighter Group JG 53 was attacked by the 324th FG. (Source: F. Trendle, "Brennendes Land")
Four German pilots were KIA. 2nd Lieutnant Edmund Wright 324th FG) had to bail out and became POW.

Now I´m searching for above reports to understand the dogfight(s).
Also because eye withnesses always talked about German planes which crashed that day in same area and same time.

Would be great somebody can provide the reports or can give me the address where to find the documents.
Thanks a lot in advance
Rolf

Re: 324th FG, Dec. 22nd, 1944, Looking for Mission Report and Claim Reports

Hi Rolf. There are a few details in the MACR (11609) for Wright ; it was an armed recce. / railroad from Dole-Tavaux to the Hubertshofen area . He was flying P-47D 42-26566 "Hells Belles" which was ex-353FG / Eighth AF.

Study 85, the official credits for victories gives the 324FG 4 for the 22nd. for 316FS...
1/Lt W G Allen (316) 1
1/Lt R T Dewey (316) 1
2/Lt F E Pardue (316) 1
1/Lt W R Richmond (316) 0.5
1/Lt C B Slack (316) 0.5
It seems he was shot down by IV./JG53.

Cool Re: 324th FG, Dec. 22nd, 1944, Looking for Mission Report and Claim Reports

Hi Rolf,

have the Mission Report Mission 2420, 316th Fighter Squadron, 324th Fighter Group, December 22, 1944. If you visit me, we will take a close look at the report. 324th Fighter Group attacked Trains between Donaueschingen and Villingen. The high-altitude protection Thunderbolts surprises Bf 109 of JG 53 returning from Alsace. More later…..

All the best

Fred
