"Mensura wambu"
Hallo!
Has the meaning (and perhaps correct spelling?) ever been solved? I mean the inscription on a JG 77 Bf 109, see for example https://pwm.org.pl/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6595 for photos. Today Youtube suggested me video about Mensur! Quick googling provided information that mensur is academic fencing: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academic_fencing At least for me a new avenue of thought. But what is "wambu" (spelling?). Is there vocabulary for mensur? Edit https://en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/Rec...Germanic/wambu Cheers, Kari |

Re: "Mensura wambu"
Hi Kari. The first word is actually "Memsura"; I don't know the relevance here but it's a female name in Croatia meaning "victorious". Maybe something to do with Widowitz being born in Austria? "Wambu" is even more obscure, one meaning is a former Kingdom in Angola. Hope you find something.
