Re: GCI/5 victory
Hi Fred
That is not the claim Michel is asking about. On page 161 of your book you list two claims by the French and while you quote the second (ca 17.00H), Michel asks for the first one at 07.00H. Since no one but you list that second claim by GC 3/6 (no pilots known) I wonder from where you got that detail? Is the time of loss of the Ju 88 D known? Cheers Stig |

Re: GCI/5 victory
Decot lists the victory by pilots of "Roussillon" (no groupe number). But does not identify a second victory. Two of my sources identify Rouquette and his section as pilots of GCI/5. Therefore I think it's one victory..but GCIII/6 or GCI/5?

Re: GCI/5 victory
I can't find any victory for GCIII/6 in March 1944. Only one in January 1944.

Re: GCI/5 victory
While I don't know who Decot is I also think we may talk about only one claim here....

Re: GCI/5 victory
The brothers Decot (Daniel and Alain) have written an exceptional set of FAF books. Lots of combat reports, lots of detail. Well worth the price (I thought it was a lot before I bought the Gillet books!).
They may have erred on this occasion but I still use the sources with confidence. K |

Re: GCI/5 victory
Michel I venture that it is a victory for GCI/5 not GCIII/6. The claimants are all GCI/5 therefore the victory credited to these pilots as pilots of Groupe "Roussillon" is wrong,
Looking for a second victory on this date requires a second victory being found...anywhere. Which we haven't found...anywhere.... the word "anywhere" keeps recurring. Also is there a record with GCIII/6 claiming a victory, on this date, with a previously unnamed list of claimants? I believe it's one victory by GCI/5. K ![]() |
