In Prien's JFV 5 is mentioned at page 564:
02.09.41 1.Erg./J.G. 26 Uffz. Herbert Contzen, verl., Motorschaden, Absrurz Scheldemündung, FSA, 100%, Bf 109 E-7, 3633. Also Caldwel has mentioned this incident in 'The JG 26 War Diary' Vol 1 p.172: 2 September 1941 Earlier in the day the Ergänzungsgruppe lost a Bf 109E that crashed into the Scheldt after its enine failed. Ufz. Herbert Contzen bailed out and was rescued. But in Ob.d.L. Genst. Gen.Qu. 6.Abt. Nr. 4970/41 g.Kdos.(IC) from H.Qu., den 4.9.41. is mentioned : Luftflotte 3: Nr. 54.), 2.9., Erg.Gr./J.G. 26, F, Pl.Qu.3244/05, Absturz infolge Motorschaden (F. mit Fallschirm abgesprungen), Bf 109E7, 3633, 100%, Uffz. Komprecht, Hans, F, verletzt. Corr. : d/21.10.41. Motorschaden and at : e/25.9.42. Uffz. Komprecht unverletzt. But who was flying the Bf 109E-7 with Wnr. 3633 at this day? |

Hello Jaap,
according to "Wings to Victory" (db.wingstovictory.nl) on 2 Sep 1941 the Bf 109 E-7 WNr. 3633 was flown by Uffz Contzen. See article "Crash No 136", here two quotations: Kriegstagebuch Führer der Motorbootsverbände 0845 Rheinflottille – Boot 27 rettet den verwundeten Piloten einer Me 109, die auf Position 51° 35,7’N/03° 36,3’O ins Wasser stürzte und bringt ihn nach angelegten Notverband zur Staffel in Haamstede. Versuche der Boote 27 und 29 das bei Mittelwasser etwa 12 mtr. Tiefliegende Flugzeug zu bergen mißlungen. De vliegtuig verliezen in en om Zeeland Messerschmitt Bf 109 E-7 (Wnr. 3633) van 2 Erg./JG 26 stortte als gevolg van motorstoring ter hoogte van Oostkapelle in de Noordzee. De pilot kon door Boot 27 van het Rheinflottille worden gered en aansluitend overgebracht naar Haamstede. Uffz Herbert Contzen safe Regards Leo |

I have seen this database, but the question remains! Why has the GQM file an other name for the pilot than Prien and others? Jaap |
