Bailing out of a Junkers 88 A5

Can anyone give me some advice on what bail-out procedures were followed by Junkers 88 bomber crews in 1941 .... ?

I believe the crew exited the aircraft on the ground via the ventral gondola, however, that appears impossibly narrow for all four crewmen to use in a flight emergency. I've seen some pictures were the cockpit canopy has been jettisioned, but that big tailplane seems a dangerous obstacle if attempting to go out over the wing.

Any comments would be much appeciated ...

On a related matter, can anyone confirm how much altitude a Luftwaffe flyer needed to safely deploy his parachute in 1941 .... ?
