Messerschmitt Me 323E

Hi...

Can anyone confirm whether or not the Me323 with gun turrets mounted on top of the wings, had a corresponding 'blister' under the wings in order to accommodate this turret...? Something similar, perhaps, to the Bv222 with upper wing turrets, which had a corresponding 'blister'.

A photo (or link) which would enable confirmation would be very much appreciated.

Regards...

Re: Messerschmitt Me 323E

This may help.

Its from page 655 of William Green's Warplanes of the Third Reich.

The quality of the image on the page was not great and this is also apparent in the scan.

Re: Messerschmitt Me 323E

Not all the E models hv this feature, the Stand hs been tested in Tarnewitz in Summer 1943 on the Wn 1149, then retrofitted to some or all existing E models

Re: Messerschmitt Me 323E

Hi, Remi...

Thanks for that information. I suspected that was the case, but wasn't sure initially how the turret arrangement looked below the wing surface. Thanks anyway for your comments...

Regards...

Paul
