Fw 190 F-8 "<<" "green C" ?

Dear board members

I know as a modeler I am not very well liked in this group of researchers and historians, but as I have reached the end of my (re)search possiblities, I dare to ask for some assistance.

I have a decal set from "Hungarian Armour Decals" for a Winter camouflaged Fw 190 F-8 "< <" "green C" credited to have been flow by Egon Thiem Gruppenkommandeur of I./SG10 (February 1945, Tótvázsony/Hungary).

The instructions just show the lhs Profile, black and white, printed on "toilet paper". So I try to find a bit more information ... best would of course be a photo source ... maybe I just missed it when looking through my "library" or I can possibly buy the book or mag.

Any help appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

all the best

Steffen

Don't worry about that- almost 70% of those who buy books written by serious researchers are plastic kit modelers so you are on right place.

Question- have you try to contact manufacturer? Did they have some contact, blog or forum? Best way is to firstly contact manufacturer and then go to another forum. Anyway- green and blue used for unit markings could look the same so only to hope that manufacturer has done his job good.

Cheers

Hello Srecko

Thanks for the hint .. stupid me I did not think myself of it (just wrote them) ..

Still I think if there is some info out there (and the decals are not totally bogus) someone here can help me.

I follow 12 o' clock high since the old days when there still was the other board and I know that modelers are treated like pest, but as I said I have no idea how to expand my knowledge in this special case. Maybe there meanwhile is a book about SG 10 or the Fw 190 F and G series (Rodeikes book is still my main source on Fw 190 fighters) that I just missed to buy.

all the best

Steffen

Maybe but this is ownership rights of the board admin and owner. But this should not turn you away from board like this. I know for that behaviior and some time ago i have place a modeling topic and this is accepted without problem.

I have some books about this plane and have seen there some images from Hungary. Just some weeks ago I have deliver pack of 20 profiles for publication and they are in print by now. So I know what kind of problem you have. I will try to look for this and inform you about possible color. Feel free to contact me in private. But I am sure that somebody will help you too

Cheers

Re: Fw 190 F-8 "<<" "green C" ?

Hello Srecko

I think we are leaving the topic too far if we expand this side topic, I would rather have some more solid info ... BTW I have no problem with Ruy and I know some board members that were really kind and helpful in the past. I could also provide some info in "exchange" so no hard feelings on my end.

With the statement above I just wanted to express that I already tried to find some information in my collection (which is not that bad concerning Luftwaffe 1935-45) and came out with zilch .. exept the rather sketchy info on Thiem in Obermeiers Vol.2.

Again, my "research" approach is surely not scientific and I have never been to BA/MA, NARA, PRO and the like and thus I am not a researcher or historian. I am fully aware that I am asking a very specific question, that is totally useless to get the whole picture of WW2, Luftwaffe and war in general. In that it is my modelling point of view and not well liked by some of the board members .. thus my apologies to those who feel offended by my posts and a plea to those that maybe could help me to provide some info or a source where I can find something.

I hope I could make my point a bit clearer. now lets leave this aspect of my post and rather focus on SG 10 in Hungary.

Thanks for your kind response!

all the best

Steffen
