1st bombing raid with voice traffic recorded

The raid on Vitry le François on the 27th of June 44 was the first one whose traffic between the Lancasters and the controler were recorded on magnetic wires apparatus borrowed from the Americans. If, by a remote chance, these records are still alive, do anybody knows where to direct the research.

I am not sure if it is the same raid but I recall hearing, after the war, a recording made on an RAF operation by the BBC. The reporter was Wynford Vaughan-Thomas,very well known in his day on BBC Radio and my hearing of his recording was from a programme made about the war as History in which he was interviewed. It was largely done with Thomas as a commentator and reporter and I don't recall any Inter Aircraft material. I would suggest that you might try contacting the BBC to see if it has been retained in their archive

The Vaughan-Thomas recording must still be in the archive as it was broadcast on BBC about 15 years ago. I recorded it on casette but can't find it!
