Hartmann film?

I posted in the Hartmann v. P-51 thread, as my grandfather was shot down by Hartmann over Romania on 6-24-44. I see that there is a film record listed for Hartmann's kill.

What I'm wondering is, are there archives of Hartmann's gun camera films? How would I go about seeing those?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Hartmann film?

HI Cjb,

Is the film number in a format like this:
"Film C. 2036//II"

Then the reference should be the number of the microfilm containig the original document of loss list in the german military archives.

Hope this helps

Lino

Re: Hartmann film?

Yes. It's on the film named "Film C. 2032/I"....

So is there an archive in Germany that I can contact in order to view this? Or have they ever digitized such films and put them online?

Rob Romero is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Hartmann film?

I beleive the film refers to archived microfilm of documents such as victory claims/credits. Very few Luftwaffe pilots used guncameras -most that were used, were for training purposes.
