Me 262 Jagdverband Honor Goblet sponsored by Messerschmitt Augsburg
Hello,
I could recently buy a goblet that was sponsored by the "DAF-Betriebszelle der Messerschmitt-Werke Augsburg" (DAF means Deutsche Arbeits-Front which was something similar as a labor union during the 3rd Reich) to the first "Turbo-Jagdverband". In addition there is a Me 262 on the goblet. It belonged to a German Messerschmitt Engineer who emigrated to Argentinia after the war.
Now, I am wondering to which Turbo-Unit it was given. If it was JG7 they should have written "Jagdgeschwader" instead of "Jagdverband". So, it could have been given to JV44. However, I doubt that in April 1945 they worried about sponsoring a goblet to JV44 as the war's end was so close. And secondly, JV44 was not the first unit. Also, Augsburg produced only the very first Me 262s.
What is your opinion?
Regards,
Roger Gaemperle
