Ju88 night fighter attack Denmark
On the night of the 13 March 1943 Lancaster W4201 was attacked over Denmark by a Ju88 night fighter. The Lancaster was from 57 Squadron, it was seriously damaged but crash landed back at base.
Has any member the ability to identify the unit and crew within the Ju88 aircraft. It is my understanding that due to weather conditions the activity of Bomber Command was ristricted that night. Thanks for reading my quest. |

Re: Ju88 night fighter attack Denmark
I guess that you mean this combat:
Tyborøn 33 m wsw 0350 hrs 3500 ft. Believed Ju 88 attacked Lancaster with one burst seevering control cables and sending a/c into spiral dive. Exploding verey cartridge probably gave impression that a/c was diving in flames. I could only have been a nightfighter from IV./NJG 3 from Fliegerhorst Grove, but I do not have any claims for that night. |

Re: Ju88 night fighter attack Denmark
Tony Woods has this one for the 13/14:
14.03.43 Oblt. Paul Zorner 2./NJG 3 Wellington £ 74/1/8F1 at 900 m. 03.51 Film C. 2031/II Anerk: Nr.66 Seems too far south though? There was a Wellington lost that night on a mining op, not sure what the target area was. |
