Post Re: 135 Wing Commanding Officer

Hi Chris

to be precise - the Commanding Officer of 135 Wing was G/C P R Walker DSO, DFC from July '44 - May '45. W/C Ray Harries was the Wing Commander Flying.

Until the abolition of Sectors in July 1944 2TAF Wings were commanded by a Wing Commander, with a WingCo Flying covering the operational side.

From mid-July 1944 Wings were a Group Captain command, retaining a WingCo Flying. As in any rule there are exceptions to this of course, but not in the case of 135 Wing.

Hope this helps?

Allan
