ID of 16 victory II./ZG76 Bf110? Another a/c of Oblt. Hans-Joachim Jabs?
Hello,
Anybody have any idea who this might be? This has been auctioned today along with several II./ZG76 photos, mostly from 5. Staffel. The only person with possibly 16 victories from II./ZG76 through the end of 1940 was Oblt. Hans-Joachim Jabs, but this victory scoreboard doesn't fit the sequence for other photos of his a/c that I have, including his M8+KP with 14 victories (9 top row; 5 second row). That one was apparently force-landed on a French beach during what must have been the first week of Sept. 1940, an unrecorded loss. That plane was intact so it may have been put back into service after only minor unit-level repairs. We know that he later flew M8+IP with 19 victory tabs, but the top row always thereafter shows 10 victory tabs and this one shows 12. Is there another aircraft that he flew between M8+KP and M8+IP? He is known to have force-landed several times during the WC and the BoB. Anybody got any insight into this? This all matters as we are planning to do a series of color profiles of the various a/c that he flew in 1939 and 1940 for the EOE book series. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1156 Thanx, |
