USAAF evadees - 63, Brook St. London
Bonjour,
I am looking for some explanations about the Military Intelligence Service department located 63, Brook Street – London, a place where USAAF evadees were sent after their return to England. How the process was? Regards, Frederic |

Re: USAAF evadees - 63, Brook St. London
Frederic,
Name appears to have been US Special Reception Center. I think you can find an example of the process on http://www.381st.org/History/WarDiar...nuary1945.aspx where Sgt Lavalle came down behind enemy lines (14-1-45), could evade, was hospitalized and returned to base on the 29th. Because he had been an evader and been in possible contact with the enemy he was ordered to London for interregotion next day already (30-1-45). To avoid any risk that he could compromise anyone who might have helped him during his evasion in the unlucky case he was taken prisoner on a next occasion, he was sent Stateside on 26 feb 45. Regards, Leendert |

Re: USAAF evadees - 63, Brook St. London
Hello Leendert,
Thanks a lot for the link and these short explanations. In fact, in its E&E report, the flyer simply wrote: “Then I was sent to the Military Intelligence Service, 63, Brook St.London.” There finishes its report. Best regards from France, Frederic |
