Vals, Sonias or...
On 3 September 1944 the 23rd FG aces Pappy Parham and Pappy Herbst made claims for Val dive bombers. I have always assumed these were not Vals but Sonias possibly of 6th Sentai... however the 25th Sentai lost a veteran pilot in air combat on this date. I have no records showing a fighter kill by USAAF units on that date, was he shot down by the Chinese air force?
