Herbert Findeisen

1. When did Herbert Findeisen join 1/NAGr.4 (he was with this unit as of 30/5/43). Was he with this unit from it's formation on 1/3/43 and was he St.Kap

2. On what date did he transfer to 2/NAGr.4 (sometime between 15/7/43 and 2/8/43) and was he St.Kap of this unit.

Regards

transfers of "Mungo"

Hi,

assuming that you looked into Obermaier´s data about "Mungo" Findeisen, did you try to obtain his personal file from Bundesarchiv? Since "Mungo" passed away in 1963, his file should be accesible if is indeed available.

Hi Jan,

How much do the Bundesarchiv charge to copy a file and do they only process requests in German?

Bundesarchiv

These files are kept in Aachen, not Freiburg and I they charge per A4 copy 0.50 EUR.

I am afraid that Aachen staff talks just German, but you can try to get the file via company Selke.

if you need more information, contact me off-board

Re: Bundesarchiv

Ahoj Jan
Perhaps you could write here what is to be expected in such files, how much pages they consist and how to order them?
I think it may be of great assistance for several researchers.

Personal files

Dzien dobry Franek,

my advice is tricky: if you do not have chance to go over Aachen a see the files, you never know what you get. Sometimes there is just one page with dates of few awards, sometimes it is comprehensive file with 20 - 30 pages including review of airman´s activity (number of missions per time and territory), comments of superiors about airman´s performance (i.e. files that airman himself was probably never allowed to see).

But sometimes there is nothing especially in case of NCOs.

:?

Hi Jan,

Thanks for the info. How long on average do they normally take to process requests.
