927 IAP base on 9 April 1945
On 9 April 1945 Ml Lt Yakov Yakovlevich Val'kov of 927 IAP was killed in a forced-landing near his base, in Eastern Prussia, during a training accident with La-5 No 39212643.
Source: http://allaces.ru/p/people.php?id=00000000665 Problem is the above source does not tell the name of the airfield. Val'kov was buried in Gerdauen, East Prussia, so may have died here but I would like confirmation that 927 IAP was based there. Thanks in advance Laurent |
