Courland pocket

Hello,

I'm looking for informations about Luftwaffe losses during evacuation flights from the Courland pocket May 1945.

Thank you very much

Re: Courland pocket

Hello Alain

Plenty of information is out there, via Google - here are a few examples readily available, including the news that a book about Courland, and the May 8 1945 evacuations is on the way.

http://www.airwarpublications.com/bo...s-in-the-works

"The aerial action over Courland continued until the very end of the Second World War, and the book will include a detailed description of the desperate Luftwaffe evacuation from the Courland pocket on 8 May 1945."

Re: Courland pocket

Hi Allan and Alain,

Yes, a book about the air war over Courland has been in the works for quite some time, but I'm determined to get it done this year. The evacuation will be covered in its own chapter.

In the interim, Axel Urbanke's Luftwaffe im Focus Spezial No. 2 (2006) has an excellent article on the evacuation by Georg Schlaug and Sven Carlsen, and would be a good place to seek the answer to Alain's question.

There were some excellent discussions on the old 12 O'Clock High forum as well. See, for example: http://www.lwag.org/forums/archive/i...hp/t-2372.html

Cheers,
Andrew A.
