Hudson A/G wounded 10 July 1940
Hi guys
I'm seeking the identity of an air-gunner of a 22 Squadron Hudson who was wounded in combat with a Do18 on 10 July 1940. Any help appreciated. Cheers Brian |

Re: Hudson A/G wounded 10 July 1940
Hi Brian,
Curious, especially as to the source of your information. 22 Squadron were flying Beauforts at this time and did not fly Hudsons ever. Their ORB has no record of any operational flying this day. However 224 Squadron were flying patrols this day from Leuchars. Hudson P5122 (P/O A.J. Pearson) engaged a 'Do 215' at 0705 hours. The WOp/AG Sgt. Robert Craig Christie was hit and died before the aircraft was landed at Lossiemouth. The F.540 part of their ORB has no record of this action or loss but the F.541 does. You might wish to consult the AIR 81/1066 file at Kew which doubtless has more details, although I see P5159 recorded as the serial on the AIR 81 index. Regards, Martin. |

Hi Martin
Thanks for that! It seems that my source was wrong on two counts! Cheers Brian Last edited by Brian; 4th October 2014 at 20:20. |
