Ju88C 4/NJG1 4D+BZ lost 13 July 1940
Hi guys
I assume the above was lost in an accident, flown by Obgfr Kurt Herrmann. Not sure whether 12/13 July or 13/14 July. Details appreciated. Cheers Brian |

Re: Ju88C 4/NJG1 4D+BZ lost 13 July 1940
Ju 88 C-2 W.Nr. 0880181 4D+BZ still belonged (Z)/KG 30 and date variously given 11.07.40 or 13.07.40. GQM do state that unit in entry 73.) for 15.07.40, covering losses for 13.07.40. However next entry before is 11.07.40 but no " (ditto marking) is for this entry, so put 13.07.40 as date for this accident. "Belly landing 100%" must have been severe. Indeed the "fate list" from 4./NJG 2 states this in entry 21: "Ju 88 C-2 880181 (0880181 meant) 4D+BZ (Assigned): 03.06.40 - (Fate): 13.07.40 Bruchlandung in Schipohl u. Verbrannt Ofw. Herrmann am 13.07.40"
The Zerstörerstaffel became II/NJG 1 on 20.07.1940 4./NJG 1 here is in error. - II/NJG 1 Was formed in late July 1940 from Zerstörerstaffel/KG 30 with the Ju 88 C-2 in 5. and 6. Staffel whilst 4. Staffel flew the Do 17 Z-10 “Kauz”. Unit re-numbered I/NJG 2 in September 1940, and reciewing twenty newly converted Ju 88 C-2 (Zerstörer).
