Catalina squadron identity
A section of 80 Sqn escorted a Catalina to Wewak on the 8th March 1944; the rendezvous place was Karkar Island.
I assume the Catalina was a 5th AF a/c but what unit? |

Re: Catalina squadron identity
VP(B)-34 was on SAR duty during FEB-MAR 1944 in the area.

Re: Catalina squadron identity
Thanks. Presumably searching for the crew of B-24D Liberator 42-41225 of the 531st BS, 380th BG, which I believe was intercepted near Hansa Bay.
