A seaplane in the bay of Vathy

Good morning,

1942, bay of Vathy/Samos, the island is under Italian occupation
One can see a seaplane and i`m asking:

Is this an Italian one? It seems to me like an Arado 196. What do you mean?

regards Byron

Hi Byron,

It doesn't appear an Ar 196 to me. I've a pile of pictures of this type at sea plane base Schellingwoude, but the shapes doesn't resemble the one on you picture.

Just a thought: Junkers W 34 float plane?

Regards,
Hans

Perhaps someone with better photo enhancement tools may disagree but I think it looks like a Ju W34.

Sorry for repeating you, Hans. We were typing at the same time.

The large tail-fillet makes this a Ju W34hau, judging by the elongated engine cowling.

Regards Tom
