Claire roman: The first woman pilot of french armee de l'air
Hi Gents,
here is the story of the first woman pilot of the French "armée de l'air". She was in charge of ferrying aircraft of the French Armée de l'air in June 1940.
She was arrested by the German forces in Rennes in June 1940, but she managed to escape.
She died in 1941 in a Caudron Goéland (French twin engine liaison aircraft) and the remains of this aircraft were discovered last year in the French Pyrenees mountains.
It must be noted that before the war, she set many records (speed, altitude) for women.
The story of this incredible - but forgotten - woman can be found in the link hereunder (a link at the beginning of the article will take you to the English version). Enjoy.
