From the Facebook page: The Eighth Air Force Historical Society (official) · Chuck Wells · tSpo3 nhsroasoresndsf · "Wally Tipsword, 8th Air Force, tail gunner extraordinaire!" This is how he loved to introduce himself, even after a lifetime of achievements outside of his brief WWII service. Sgt. Tipsword went home to be with the Lord, August 6, 2021, he was 97. Wally was a member of the Orvest Ellingson crew, 379th BG, 524 SQ, Kimbolton--"The Grand Slam Group". He was shot down on his 5th mission and became a guest of the Third Reich on September 8, 1944.
