Luftwaffe airgunners 1940

I have read that as many as one in Five of RAF fighter losses during the Battle of Britain were down to Luftwaffe Airgunners armed with the MG15.

Did the Luftwaffe keep records of confirmed / claimed kills by its gunners?
Who was the top gunner during this period?

Thanks.
