Ju-88H
I have been going through my sources looking for information on the Ju-88H. I have found the following:
Ju-88H were all conversions of Ju-88D, drawn from the production line. They were not a consecutive block, as shown by the werknummer list below. 430820 (prototype V89, RG+RP) 430821 (prototype V90, RJ+ON) H-2? 430841 430898 430931 DO+FS Shot down 31Jul44 430941 Known kennzeichen: 4U+AL, 4U+BL, 4U+CL, 4U+EL, 4U+FL What I cannot do is match werknummern to kennzeichen. Can anyone help? |

Re: Ju-88H
Wasn't 430944 lost 13 Jun 44 4U+BL? I think that no Kennzeichen was listed for 430931 albeit I do have a photo of its last moments? There are others on the board way more knowledgeable than I on this subject

Re: Ju-88H
This may not be much help, but I would like to raise a flag or two. As a note, the only primary source I have for H series other than photos is an Ernst Leichsenring Logbook entry for V89. Most of the other information came from items in Flugzeug magazine (1 & 2/90) and Jet & Prop (2 & 6/97). First-I believe it was highly unlikely that Werknummer 430821 was the H-2 prototype. The Stammkennzeichen RJ+ON does not fit, and is for an early batch of Ju 88 G-1s which makes some sense. Unfortunately, I do not have the linking Werknummer sequence for those Ju 88s. Second-Griehl’s Ju 88 book has Werknummer 430821 as the second H-1, V90. The Stammkennzeichen for Werknummer 430821 is probably RG+RQ. Third- The Stammkennzeichen for Werknummer 430898 may be TX+OL. If you do find more “H” info, I hope you will post it here and what source. ArtieBob |

Re: Ju-88H
Found another "H" listing That was posted on LEMB. Werknummer 430882 (TO+DV) 3.(F)/123. Undercarriage buckled on landing, training flight at Rennes (23.3.44).

Re: Ju-88H
430821 was an ordinary Ju 88 D-1.
Ju 88 H-1 V90 was the 430841 RJ+OK. I have all 10 Ju 88 H-1 aircraft with serial numbers and date of first flight from the flight logs of the pilots Lehmann and Kuhlmann in Merseburg. However, the final fate of some aircraft is still unknown. |

Re: Ju-88H
Thanks very much for your help and corrections.
Sadly, the 2 ECPAD pictures, while informative in other ways, don't help with werknemmern or kennzeichen. |
