Spitfire shot down on 26.09.44?

Can anyone advise the name of the Spitfire pilot, unit and his fate shot down on 26Sep44 near Arnheim. He was seen to have bailed after his plane caught fire.

Chris, Thanks for the reply. I saw the gun camera clips and just wanted to verify who it was in the spitfire that Spate shot down.

Rossner and Sherwood both crash-landed after being hit by flak, and could not have been the pilot you are looking for.

Spitfire MkIXB ML-318 416sq RCAF 26-09-1944
Shot down 14.20h SSE of Doetinchem, probably by Maj Wolfgang Spathe, Stab/IV./JG 54.
F/Lt G.R Patterson bailed out!
