2.Erg./Jagdgeschwader 53

After purchasing a small set of doucuments relating to a Flugfuhrer in JG53, I noticed on Tony Wood's 'Combat Claims and Casualties' site that he acheived his first kill serving in '2.Erg./Jagdgeschwader 53'.

Was the 2 Staffel of JG53 always an Erganzungs Staffel or was this a temporary measure at the time? Or was it a different set up that I imagine?

Any help will as always be very well received indeed.

Looking at my post again I think I need to rephrase the question:

Was 2.Erg./Jagdgeschwader 53 part of the 'Ergänzungsgruppe' of JG53? rather than my earlier impression that it was the 2 Staffel of I./JG53?

2/Erg/ JG 53 was one of 2 Staffeln within Erg/JG 53. Formed in Nov 40, it was first commanded by Lt Dr Rudolf Lüder and then in Aug 42 Oblt Werner Ursinus. In Feb 42 it became 3/Erg Süd.
