Grumann F4-F Martlet lost on 08/05/1943
Hi to all!
I am doing some private researches on Ernest-Wilhelm Reinert claims and would like some help to identify one of his claims. He indeed submitted a claim over a Grumman Martlet on the 8th May 1943, while escaping from Tunisia to Sicily. He was flying the Bf 109 G of Zeno Baumel, with Zeno and a mechanic cramped inside the fuselage. It seems that this was a Royal Navy machine, or there was any US Marines Squadron equipped with the F4-F Wildcat on the Mediterranean waters? Glad on any DATA someone could pass me about this claim Sincere and friendly as ever Adriano |
