What of those "extra" ones claimed but not counted (?) between the 76th on the 9th Aug and the 77th on the 12th ? who and what were they ? Why were they not included ? Alex |

Re: Adolph galland's score ?
Hi Alex,
His Blenheim claim on 12th August 1941 concerned V6261 XD-M of 139 Squadron. Best regards, Hans Nauta |

Re: Adolph galland's score ?
Hi,
in the combat on 9.8.41 against Circus 68 around Gosnay (St Omer area), JG 26 claimed 6 Spitfire between 11,25-11,45, including Galland 76. victory. British losses were: 452 Sqn 3 Spitire II (PO O byrne, sgt Haydon, sgt Chapman) 616 Sqn 1 Spitfire 603 Sqn 1 Spitfire damaged Tangmere Wing 1 Spitfire (Wing Comm. Bader) so Galland victory should be one of these. the victories claimed in the afternoon can be the same one: Spitfire N. Ardeas 5000m 17,44 VNE:ASM and maybe never confirmed. (the other Spitfire N.Ardes 17,41 appears only in Caldwell's book, maybe he has a better explaination) regards Alessandro |

Re: Adolph galland's score ?
Hi,
Abschussmeldungen of Galland can be found at RL 10/260 Abschussmeldungen I./JG 26 (BAMA/Freiburg). On 12 Aug 41 Stab JG 26 Galland claimed a Blenheim 20km west of Flushing/Holland. The Meldung states victory number 77. The Spitfire claim on 12 Aug 41 states victorynumber 76 first, which was changed later into 78. Regards Rob |

Thanks Rob
I see I have to order the file. I hope it will be not too expensive. Do you know the period covered and completness? Best wishes |

Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
Franek,
Sorry, I cannot remember - I only ordered the Abschussmeldungen regarding 12 Aug 41 over 15 years ago when I saw this file. Cannot remember now the covered period and completness regarding the other Meldungen - perhaps somebody else has more knowledge of the contents of this file (e.g. Donald Caldwell or Dr Jochen Prien). Regards Rob |

Re: Adolf Galland's score ?
Hi,
Many thanks for replying. The claims of Galland for the 9th August are the ones I am interested in. As can be seen, his 76th claim was in the am . Then there are two claims in the pm, one at 17.41 unconfirmed and another at 17.44 said to have been a 452 Sqdn Spitfire. Yet his 77th claim was not until the 12th August a Spitfire P7693 of 19 Sqdn in which P/O/ Calvert was killed. And his 78th claim the Blenheim that Hans Nauta has noted above V6261 "XD-M" of 139 Sqdn. Just what and who were the two unnumbered claims on the 9th August. Could one of them have been Bader after all ? Alex |
