British aircraft losses with Luftwaffe

Hi Guys

Has anyone anything on lost British aircraft serving with the Luftwaffe from 1940 to 1945?

Since they were 2nd line items I would be interested in knowing if NVM or GQM has anything to say.

Cheers
Stig

Stig are you after details of lost British made aircraft or do you mean captured / lost RAF aircraft and British civilian aircraft?

Re: British aircraft losses with Luftwaffe

Well Larry

A bit hard to state that exactly.
After a bit of thinking, I would settle for captured British aircraft built under non-combat specifications (including impressed civil ones from conquered areas).

Jim
Thanks a lot for your list. Got in fact a bit more than I was bargaining for, my fault, but I must say it produced three answers I had not expected and that was two Hurricanes and one Spitfire being in use in other units than pure test and evaluation.

If anyone else can come up with more aircraft such as De Havilland types (no Mosquito....) I would be most happy.

Cheers
Stig

Re: British aircraft losses with Luftwaffe

Hello Stig, Larry and Jim

AIR 25/250 ORB (14 Group) at TNA, Kew, on 25.11.40 states:-

"On a previous occasion a Whitley was intercepted near Sumburgh on 13.6.40 and allowed to proceed because it had British Markings, but it was afterwards found to be in enemy hands."

This obviously came out in the Inquiry for the friendly fire incident when a Whitley engine was shot up by RAF fighters and our Whitley was forced to make a "crash landing on Wick aerodrome." on 25.11.40, as the earlier 13th June 1940 Sumburgh incident is in the same paragraph.

Mark

Re: British aircraft losses with Luftwaffe

And how many flying Whitleys did the Luftwaffe actually have? None I think, though at least one was recovered intact from the sea.
