Ju 87 identification
Gentlemen,
some time ago the attached photo was sold on ebay. As I am no expert for the Stuka, can someone please tell me more about this Ju 87 (exact variant, unit, Stkz etc.)? I read its Werknummer as 491263, 491203 or 491283, location might be Köthen. Cheers and thanks in advance, Christian Last edited by ChristianK; 19th January 2021 at 15:06. |

Re: Ju 87 identification
Looks like 491283. Schleppgruppe 1 had several G-2 in their inventory in this WNr. range. 491302 was damaged at Köthen on 09-Feb-45 belonging to Schleppgruppe 1.

Re: Ju 87 identification
Thanks Norbert,
in regard to the glider school at Köthen and the dislocation of Schleppgruppe 1 during winter 44/45 this is a very good clue. Just now I see what could be a towing device aft of the tail wheel. So what we have here would be a tankbuster retrofitted as a glider tug - I only have seen B- and D-variants modified this way, so this seems to be a really interesting photo after all... Thanks again, Christian |
