Waldemar Wuebke death date

I'm looking to confirm the death date of ex Hptm Waldemar Wuebke who according to the LW Officer database supposedly died on July 3,1963 in a plane crash in South America. From some Google trolling I was able to find that he was a captain in the Colombian airline, Avianca in the 1950s.

I also found this interesting anecdote about Waldemar Wuebke

FORMER GERMAN PILOT PAYS NINE-YEAR-OLD BET Santa Ana, Calif.--LTV--Early in July [1943] a German Luftwaffe captain boasted the Nazis would sweep their foes out of the skies. A captured American bomber pilot wagered the best bottle of brandy available after the war that the German was wrong. , Early this month David Farrell, of Santa Ana, the wartime pilot, collected. The loser, Captain Waldemar Wuebke, now living in Bogota, Colombia, remembered the bet when he met a New York woman in South America. He sent $10 back with her. She sent it to a sister in Compton, Calif., who gave it to Farrell's father in Long Beach. Since the former captain doesn't drink, he turned the winnings over to the boys' fund of the Santa Ana Optimist Club.

This was from a newspaper article in 1952. David Farrell was shot down on April 7,1943 while flying with the 306th BG.

Re: Waldemar Wuebke death date

According to the message in teh "Jägerblatt", Waldemar Wübke hat a serious plane crash May 1st, 1963, resulting from an attempted emergency landing in low/no visibility conditions. He was flying 8 passengers, all of them basically thrown clear of the wreckage after the crash.

Wübke broke is right ellbow and spine, and was seriously affected from lying at the crash site for 30 hours. Initially, he recovered well but eventually suffered pneumonia and finally died July 3rd.

If you are looking for hte corresponding crash, it should be May 1st, 1963, outside Medellin, Colombia.
