Does anyone know what this equipement did? I have a plate from a Do 217 E-4 crash and this was one of the plates recovered

Re: Zsk 244a
Hi Chris,
This instrument was used for fusing bombs and was used in many different Luftwaffe aircraft (also Me 109, Fw 190, Me 262). You could select either horizontal flight (Horizontal) or dive (Sturz) and with or without delay (mV: mit Verzögerung, oV: ohne Verzögerung). Depending on the settings the fuses in the bombs were charged differently. It was more or less the main switch to fuse the bombs before you dropped them. Very late in the war the ZSK246 was introduced in some Me 262, Ar 234, etc. I hope this helped. I might have some more detailed information about the fusing system if you need that. Regards, Roger |

Re: Zsk 244a
Chris,
Yes, a photo would be interesting. I have never seen a ZSK244 with bomb symbols on it. Perhaps done by a crew member do show how many missions they flew? Or was it engraved into the plate by the manufacturer of the instrument? Regards, Roger |

Re: Zsk 244a
An inter-active Fw-190 cockpit at http://www.clubhyper.com/reference/f...ockPitMap.html shows a ZSK 244. Is this what you're looking for or is the ZSK 244a a different instrument?
