B-17F-75-DL with a chin turret ?

Lt. James R. Locher, bombardier of 401st BG stands in front of his B-17.
Duffy's Tavern is usually associated to a B-17F-75-DL (42-3507).
Question: were some F-75 converted into G with chin turret or is there another explanation?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Re: B-17F-75-DL with a chin turret ?

I would guess that some were converted due to their proximity to "G" production. 42-3563 was a Douglas built B-17G-5. Only 56 airframes away from 42-3507.

These links show -75's with a chin turret as well.

Believe B-17F-70-DL were redesignated as B-17G-1-DL,
B-17F-75-DL were redesignated B-17G-5-DL.
