Mosquito DK293 627 Sqn RAF 8 January 1944
Hello,
In the evening of 8 January 1944 the Mosquito IV DK293 of 627 Sqn RAF did not return from a small raid on Frankfurt. Both crew (Sqn Ldr E I J Bell DFC and Flg Off J R B Battle) were captured, but Chorley and all other sources at my disposal show no place of crash. As both crew were captured somewhere, I guess that the crashplace was not totally unknown, and should be listed somewhere in German or Allied postwar documents. I would like to know where this aircraft came down, or where the crew was captured. Thanks in advance Laurent |
