Re: Japanese aircraft to identify
This is the second prototype of the Mitsubishi Kamikaze (Divine Wind) which made a record flight from Japan to London in April 1937. A/C registration is J-BAAI.

Re: Japanese aircraft to identify
Hello Khorat and Stein,
Thank you very much for your help. At least this picture has been published in old "Fanatique de l'aviation" in the seventies, or "Aviation Magazine". I'm not sure. Thanks both of you. Of course more details will be welcome. Regards, Franck. |

Re: Japanese aircraft to identify
OK! Mistubishi KI-15.
Extract from Wikipedia: The Kamikaze (神風号, Kamikaze-go?) was a MitsubishiKi-15 Karigane aircraft, (registration J-BAAI) sponsored by the newspaper Asahi Shimbun. It became famous on April 9, 1937 as the first Japanese-built aircraft to fly from Japan toEurope. The flight from Tokyo to London took 51 hours, 17 minutes and 23 seconds and was piloted by Masaaki Iinuma (1912-1941), with Kenji Tsukagoshi (1900-1943) serving as navigator. Thanks again, Franck. |
