Re: I.JG2 14.MAI 40

There were 4 losses that day for I & III/JG 2 but Lt Werner Gruebel was the only casualty; the names of the other pilots are unknown as they were not casualties

Re: I.JG2 14.MAI 40

Hi,

the book Bataille Aerienne et Rupture Sur La Meuse lists two Bf109E from the I/JG2 lost around 09.00 hours in the combat with GCI/3 in the Sedan area and one lost at 19.30 hours (belly landing Forge-Philippe in Belgium) - white 7? - in combat with GCIII/10.
The III/JG2 probably lost plane of Erich Leie (EPJ) in evening combat with Blenheims.

Regards

Robert

Re: I.JG2 14.MAI 40

Umm, many pilots had multiple logbooks because they flew for so many years. My guess with Leie is that what you (and I) have is from the beginning of 'new' FB. I have copies of 3 and 4 FBs from a couple of pilots in my collection.
