Luftwaffe Verband

Can anyone fill me in on the future status of
this organization since Barry Rosch stepped down?

I'd appreciate any information.
Bob

Re: Luftwaffe Verband

AFAIK, when Barry decided to quit publishing the LV Journal, that was the end of Luftwaffe Verband. I believe there was some contact to possibly have someone take over and continue publishing the LV Journal, but in the end, nothing happened. It was Barry's labor of love, but after many years, it was a lot of effort for one person. Barry is still going strong and his current effort is focused on a Luftwaffe database, using information from loss lists, Hundreds of Fbs, thousands of photos and other documents. I will possibly visit him in the coming weeks and will report if there is anything new on the horizon.

Best regards,

Artie Bob

Re: Luftwaffe Verband

Barry´s contribution to Luftwaffe info is enormus. I have his book "Luftwaffe Codes, Markings & Units" on my table now, was a Luftwaffe Verband subchriber and even have two letters from Barry with info from his valuable loss listings. Barry has info we will not get from Freiburg or any other Freiburg´s. Hard to get info out of today Germany over old war adventures. Can this forum convince Barry to be a member and even sell to us some of his info. Hek, why not. Anyone.

Re: Luftwaffe Verband

Hi.

I was one of the former members of Luftwaffe Verband that were interested in making the community live on.

However, as I was informed that Barry Rosch had taken ill, and he never came back to me, (I also learnt from other sources that he was going to continue to work in the field - as mentioned by ArtieBob), this came to nothing.

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Luftwaffe Verband

Hi All,
just came back yesterday from visiting Barry. He is doing extremely well. His main focus is, as Artie mentioned, the database that he is working on. It involves a small group of people and is as everyone can imagine a lot of work.

He is also working on a book. (It is not a second volume of his first one)

The continuation of the Verband failed because there were misunderstandings between "some people" and Barry as to some finacial aspects of the transfer of documents and data.

I doubt he will sell anything and he will not become a member of theis forum because of the time involved to accomodate all possible requests and responses. He is very happy doing what he is doing and extremely selective who he may exchange information with.

Sorry this is not what most on this forum would like to hear but this is the reality.

Regards,

Norbert

Re: Luftwaffe Verband

This is good news Norbert,

I still think it will benefit both Barry and the rest of us to have his Luftwaffe information in circultion, one way or the other and I for one will contribut a $ for good information, so that I don´t have to buy a return ticekt to Freiburg with cost and all, getting lost most of the time. For the rest of you, are Luftwaffe information, OKW, Ob.d.L to be found in other places than Freiburg, Germany. Getting info out of there is becoming impossible. How a bout the rest of you. Should we make a complaint to the German government.? Anyone.
